The historical character and charm of our 90+ year old Late Gothic Revival style building provide a unique backdrop for any special occasion. Once known as the The People's Institute; The Evangeline Residence for Young Women, the building pays tribute to Pittsburgh and its neighborhoods. We offer four versatile event spaces in downtown Pittsburgh, with the capability to host intimate dinners for 10 to gala receptions for 200 guests. We are excited to welcome your clients, colleagues, friends and family to our Pittsburgh Events Venue for business meetings, creative conferences, weddings, celebratory cocktail receptions, fundraising galas, as well as intimate dinner parties, brunches, baby showers and most any other form of gatherings and celebrations. 
Event Spaces
The Wine Room
An intimate and private space for up to 10 guests. Secluded in our wine cellar this space offers a dining experience to remember. Featuring or, The Whale's delectable menu, attentive service, and extensive wine selections.
The Rooftop
Travel up to the 10th floor of the Distrikt Hotel to find a perfect view of downtown Pittsburgh and a glimpse of the Monongahela river. This special terrace offers hor d'oeuvres and a personalized bar service for any occasion.
or, The Whale Dinner Parties
The main dining room occupies the space of the former Salvation Army building gymnasium built in 1924. Utilizing or, The Whale's cuisine, we offer personalized menus for dinners between 10 and 40 guests.
The Boulevard Lounge
This Charming and versatile space holds 150 guests. The late gothic revival style building provides a unique backdrop for any special occasion, including wedding receptions, cocktail parties, corporate events, birthday parties, showers and more. The space is fully wheel chair accessible and offers hor d'oeuvres, station dinners, cocktails, wine and beer.
Full buyouts of all spaces available upon request with the option of blocked hotel room rates. Making this a perfect destination for your wedding or special celebration!
